Understanding Organisational Culture & Climate
Organisational climate has a much older roots in psychology
and was strongly influenced by field theory. Organisational climate does not deal with
values and norms and it is concerned with the current atmosphere in the
organisation.
Meanwhile, Organisational culture focuses on sociology and
looking at social reality from a variety of construction perspectives. Members of
this organisation learn and communicate about what is acceptable and unacceptable
in the organisation.
From the figure above, we can see that culture refers to
deep structure of organisation which is rooted in the values, beliefs and
assumptions held by the organisation members. While climate, in contrast
portrays organisational environments as being rooted in the organisation’s
value system.
